Bàsquet Girona built the game on a very solid defense in a first half of great level against MoraBanc Andorra. The Girona team started very intense at the back and limited the visitors to just four points with 3:20 left in the first quarter, setting the pace of the duel from the start. The second period followed the same script: the home team conceded just two points in the first five minutes and widened the gap thanks to their defensive consistency and good offensive minutes. Two three-pointers from Yves Pons kept the Andorrans in the game, but the best version of Pep Busquets —with a rating of 11— and a three-pointer of his own on the edge of the break allowed Girona to reach the half with the maximum advantage up to that point, 41-27 (+14) .

In the second half, Girona came out strong again and an initial 7-0 run brought the lead to 20 points (56-33) , the maximum of the match. However, MoraBanc Andorra reacted with a 2-13 run that reduced the gap to 60-44 before the last quarter. In the last minutes, the visitors pressed even harder with a 5-16 run that put them just five points behind, creating tension in Fontajau. At the decisive moment, however, the Girona team knew how to respond: Otis Livingston took the lead with eight key points in the final stretch and Martinas Geben provided internal solidity, determining factors for the victory to stay at home.
