The Girona Básquet senior plays in Fontajau on Saturday before facing two consecutive trips. They will face CB Cantaires de Tortosa at the usual time (7 p.m.) with the intention of maintaining their efficiency at home, where they are 8-1 so far. The team led by Quim Costa is third in the EBA League CA group (12-5), just one win away from the leader, Vive-El Masnou Basketball.

Today’s opponent has undergone many changes in the last month and a half. During the Christmas break, it lost Americans Joel Kindred and Cory Blau, two of its offensive mainstays. Kindred accepted an offer from Cyprus and Blue got injured. Precisely between the two they scored 48 points in the first round game that the Girona lost in overtime (96-91). The Tortoise club replaced them with Eric Weavy Jr. and Davane Carter, but they are still in the phase of adapting to the category. In addition to all this, at the beginning of this month of February, coach Claudio César Prieto left the position and his assistant, Xose Leyenda, took over. Last week, he ended a streak of consecutive defeats on the court of the OIC-Penta UB Sant Adrià (66-68) and is now twelfth, with 6-11.

Entry to Fontajau is completely free.
