Bàsquet Girona started with energy and success, scoring an initial 10-3 that got the crowd going. However, Unicaja reacted quickly with a 0-12 run that allowed them to turn the score around and close the first quarter with an advantage (15-20). In the second period, the Malaga team entered the bonus very early, but the Girona team did not know how to take advantage of it: missed free throws and a lack of offensive success opened the door to a 0-7 run that widened the difference to 26-37. In the final stretch before halftime, two three-pointers from Webb gave the locals oxygen and kept the game alive.

At the break, the visitors reached a maximum advantage of 19 points, despite some good minutes from Otis that kept Girona in the game. Little by little, the Girona team reduced the gap to -11 and, with good actions from Pepe and three-pointers from Ferrando and Hughes, they came to be only seven points behind. In the last quarter, the initial lack of defensive tension gave Unicaja a chance again, but Girona did not give up: a three-pointer from Needham put them within seven after being twelve points behind, an individual action from Minda adjusted the score (68-73) and the locals came to be only three points behind (78-81). Despite the comeback and the final push, Unicaja knew how to manage the last minutes to secure the victory by 83-90.
