A derby to finish the first round

The senior resumes the competition on Saturday, receiving in Fontajau the CB Quart Germans Cruz (7:30 p.m.), in the CA group of the EBA League

After a month without any official commitment, the senior of Basketball Girona regains the thread of the competition on Saturday. It will do so by hosting CB Quart Germans Cruz in Fontajau (7:30 p.m.) in a Girona derby that will serve to close the first round in the CA group of the EBA League. The team led by Quim Costa is currently the leader (9-3, the same record as Vive El Masnou Basketball) after closing 2017 with a string of five victories.  

Last week, CB Quart Germans Cruz caught up and played the postponed game of the fifth day against Aracena AEC Collblanc (victory by 79-68). The team, coached this year by Carles Ribot -he replaced Albert Brea in the summer-, occupies the tenth position with a 5-7 record, although as a visitor it has leveled (3-3). In a squad with players experienced in the competition and who have been playing together for years, Eric Jiménez is the top scorer with 13.7 points, although there are six other elements that credit more than seven. Both teams met last September 3 in Quart, in the preliminary phase of the EBA Catalan League. The victory was local by 89-70.
