A historic rival to close the year

The senior visits the Ibersol CB Tarragona track on Saturday (6.30 p.m.), with the idea of ​​achieving the fifth successive triumph in the EBA CA group

After a week’s hiatus, the Girona Basketball senior team resumes competition on Saturday (6:30 p.m.) before facing another stoppage, of almost a month, for the Christmas holidays. He will do it on the track of a historic team like Ibersol CB Tarragona, which has played eight of the last sixteen seasons in LEB Or. Therefore, it will not be easy for the team led by Quim Costa to prolong their positive dynamic. They have now chained four wins, a fact that has consolidated them in second place in the CA group of the EBA League, with 8-3.  

The blue team started the season strongly, but injuries have plagued it in the last month, in which it has gone 1-4 in the last five games and conceded the only two defeats at El Serrallo. In fact, only four players have been able to participate in the eleven days played. Currently, it ranks seventh (6-5). Since 2010, the coach has been Berni Álvarez, an institution at the Tarragona club – he is the only one to have had his shirt removed (5) – and with 277 games in the ACB between Pamesa Valencia and Lleida. As for the squad, it has a pivot like David Mesa, with an extensive career in LEB Or, and the top scorer is the Bosnian Mihajlo Zvonar, with 14.5 points and 39.5% in triples. Zvonar, however, will be out for today’s game, as will Michael Balkovic and Adrià Duch, as announced by the Tarragona club itself. A great atmosphere is expected in the pavilion because the match will be used to present all the association’s teams.
