Andrzej Pluta (Ruda Śląska, Poland, June 3, 2000) is a new player for Bàsquet Girona for the next two seasons. The 1.90-meter-tall guard-guard arrives from Legia Warszawa.
Formed at TKM Włocławek until the 2013–14 season, he later played one season at Estudiantes before joining Real Betis Energía Plus in the 2015–16 season. On 27 November 2016, he became the youngest player to debut for the Andalusian team in the ACB League, at 16 years, 5 months and 24 days, surpassing the record of Leo Cizmic. He is currently still among the youngest players to have debuted in the competition. In October 2018, he was loaned to COB, of the LEB Or, to cover the long-term absence of Pol Molins, and remained there until the end of the 2019–20 season.
In the 2020-21 season, he returned to Poland to play for Anwil Wloclawek, before playing for Enea Astoria Bydgoszcz, Trefl Sopot and Asseco Arka Gdynia. He has played for Legia Warszawa for the last two seasons. In the last campaign, he played in 28 regular league games, averaging 12.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists, for a rating of 13. This performance earned him the distinction of Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the regular phase of the ORLEN Basket Liga, a recognition granted by the coaches of the clubs in the competition.
Pluta was also one of the protagonists of the Polish league play-off, in which Legia Warszawa was proclaimed champion after winning the final series 4-3. The Polish guard was chosen MVP of the finals after recording 15 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in the decisive game. His most outstanding performance, however, came in the second game of the series, when he scored 27 points and distributed 9 assists.
He has also competed in the Basketball Champions League (BCL) with Legia Warszawa this season. In the six games he played in the European competition, he averaged 15.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists, with an average rating of 12.7.
On the international stage, Pluta has been an international with Poland in the U16 and U18 categories and made his debut with the senior national team on November 10, 2022, in the EuroBasket 2025 pre-qualifiers. In 2023, he participated in a pre-Olympic tournament played between Poland and Estonia, while in 2024 he took part in the Pre-Olympic Tournament held in Valencia. In 2025, he played in both the qualifiers and the final phase of the EuroBasket, held between August and September in Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Latvia. In this championship, in which the Polish national team finished in sixth place, he recorded averages of 7.7 points, 1 rebound and 3.7 assists in the seven games played. His most recent participation with the Polish national team was in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
Statements from Fernando San Emeterio, sports director: “We have been following this player in the Polish league for a couple of years. We believe that he is on a clear upward trajectory and at an ideal moment of maturity to take this big step towards the ACB League. He is a player with good size for his position. When he was young he was more oriented to playing with two, but in Poland he has experienced a very positive evolution that has allowed him to consolidate himself as a point guard. This season he has played practically full-time in this position with Legia, being the team’s leader and setting the pace of the games. He has been named MVP and has won both the regular league title and the finals. We believe that he will provide us with the ability to generate for his teammates; his first intention when creating situations is to make others play, but he also has great scoring ability at certain times and is capable of generating his own shots, both near the basket and from the perimeter. For all this, we think that he fits perfectly with the profile what we are looking for: a player with ambition, with the desire to take this step and with great enthusiasm to join Bàsquet Girona”.
