After Aceitunas Fragata Morón broke the unbeaten streak of Básquet Girona last Friday the 4th, the senior team will arrive this Saturday in Ecuador for the second round of the first phase, when they have played five games and have five left more to conclude this first competitive period. He will do so in fifth position with a balance of 10 wins and 6 losses following a dynamic of six consecutive victories that allowed him to make a significant jump in the classification.

Even so, he still has more than a month of competition ahead of him where he will have to face high-profile rivals. In fact, four of the six remaining rivals are in the top six: Afanion CB Almansa, Isover Basket Azuqueca, CB Villarrobledo and Real Murcia Baloncesto. The other rivals will be JAFEP FG La Roda and CB Vic Universitat de Vic, ranked eleventh and tenth respectively. This group of the first six classifieds, where Básquet Girona is currently, will be the privileged ones who will go to the next phase to try to ascend to LEB Or.

If this happens, the senior will not face the other five rivals who have already participated in the “East” category during the first phase. Therefore, this final stretch represents a great challenge both to reach the classification for the group that will fight for promotion and to achieve the best possible record of victories.

AFANION CB ALMANSA

The senior’s most immediate rival is Afanion CB Almansa, who currently occupy fourth position. In his last game he could not win on the leader’s court, where he fell by 85-77. The team coached by Rubén Perelló has the same record as Básquet Girona: 10 wins and 6 losses. In the first leg, played in Fontajau, Almansa prevailed with a great defensive performance (46-66).

JAFEP FG THE WHEEL

The next opponent will be JAFEP FG La Roda, which represents the eleventh position in the table. On the last day, he failed to overcome a direct rival, Vic, as a visitor (89-75). The team coached by Alejandro González has a record of 5 wins and 11 losses. In the first leg, played in Albacete, La Roda clearly prevailed over Básquet Girona thanks to a great shot from the outside (76-58).

ISOVER BASKET AZUQUECA

The third opponent will be Isover Basket Azuqueca, which is in sixth position. In the last day, he could not celebrate the victory in the Villarrobledo field (84-80). The team led by Sergio Vicente has a perfectly balanced record: 8 wins and 8 losses. In the first leg, played in Fontajau on an interweekly day, Azuqueca managed to hold back the senior’s intentions to get ahead on the scoreboard and took the victory (62-66).

CB VILLARROBLEDO

The fourth opponent will be CB Villarrobledo, which is in the third classification level. On the last day, the Madrid team beat Isover Basket Azuqueca in the second half (84-80). The team led by Manuel Jiménez has a record of 11 wins and 5 losses. In the first leg, played at the Pavilion de los Pintores, Villarrobledo prevailed in overtime (90-83).

CB VIC UNIVERSITY OF VIC

The penultimate opponent of the first phase will be CB Vic Universitat de Vic, which is currently ranked tenth. On the last day, the Vigatas won against a direct rival, JAFEP FG La Roda, which allowed them to move ahead of them in the table (89-75). The team coached by Raúl Laita has a record of 5 wins and 11 losses. In the first leg, Básquet Girona beat him with a great debut from Jordi Trias (79-68).

REAL MURCIA BASKETBALL

The last opponent of this first competitive period will be Real Murcia Baloncesto, which leads the classification of the “East” category. On the last day, the Murcians beat Afanion CB Almansa, the senior’s next rival, by 85-77. Thanks to this victory, Múrcia has a record of 12 wins and 4 losses, like the second ranked: HLA Alicante.
