First Team | Saturday, 06 January 2024

The game started with dynamism in both circles, in which the Girona players were penalized with five fouls in the first two minutes of the first quarter. The score went from 9-8 to 21-11, which was the first big difference in the score. The good opening minutes of the Girona team in the second period (27-20) were derailed by an 8-0 opponent run that put them at -15. However, the team recovered with six straight points, with a three-pointer by debutant Brae Ivey on the edge of the break, which cut the deficit (38-29).

In the resumption, a more successful Zaragoza again put the distance above ten points (60-47) but the Girona team did not give up and fought the game until the last minute. A 3-12 run after a three-pointer by Juani reduced the deficit to just four points (73-69). However, a three-pointer by McFadden, the best opponent, in the following play catapulted the Aragonese back, who took the victory (81-74)

Post-match statements:

Salva Camps: “The first quarter and the difference of ten points is a good summary of the game. I think that in the second half we changed our face and our mentality from the defense.”
