The reaction in the last quarter is not enough to avoid the first home defeat of the season, against Arenys Básquet Joventut (73-77)

The senior of Basketball Girona conceded the first defeat of the season in Fontajau this afternoon. The team led by Quim Costa has always trailed and ended up losing against Arenys Básquet Joventut (73-77), despite the proud reaction in the last quarter. The Girona team now have a 4-3 record in the CA group of the EBA League.  

From the beginning, the visitors took control of the situation although their advantages were very slim. It was from the second quarter and following a 0-11 halftime that the differences began to grow (23-33, 16′). The team was uncomfortable and couldn’t find a way to stop Joel Parra and Pol Molins (20 points between the two at halftime). On the way back to the dressing room, there was an intention to amend and, proof of this, greater defensive activity. But the own mistakes were frequent, the minutes passed and there was no way to recover ground. Coinciding with the entry of the last partial and -11 on the scoreboard (50-61), Básquet Girona has made the effect that it found a way to stick to the game and, suffocating the rival, has reached to be in front, with Alzamora assuming weight in attack (62-61, 36′). The match resulted in a head-to-head end, in which the Maresmen were more effective, especially from the free kick.
