The first team overcomes Força Lleida in Platja d'Aro in the opening match of the competition

Básquet Girona has passed the first test of the Catalan League of LEB Gold against Força Lleida in Platja d’Aro (82-66). The team from Girona took the initiative throughout the match, with a maximum advantage of twenty-one points, but the team from Lleida competed until the end, getting as close as three points (55-52). Josep Franch with 19 points was the main gunner and leader of the Girona attack.

After the first few minutes with little success and few attempts at outside shots, the Girona team went on an 11-0 run, which concluded with a triple by Albert Sàbat, to generate the first maximum advantage of nine points (15 -6). The team has managed to fatten it up to twelve before the end of the first period (23-13). In the second half, the home team increased the advantage to 21 points after an 18-8 half from the counterattack, outside efficiency and defensive solidarity. A 4-10 run reduced the lead to fourteen before the break (45-31). 

In the restart, the team from Lleida generated a partial 10-21 that brought them close to the scoreboard for the first time after many minutes (55-52). In a context of maximum equality, five points in a row by Eric Vila catapulted the partial 10-0 before the end of the third period (65-52). In the last ten minutes, Josep Franch’s leadership in the direction of the game has allowed them to gain consistency in attack and defense and rarely has the difference been less than ten points. A three-pointer from Badaloní at the end made the final score 82-66.
