Básquet Girona makes official the incorporation of a women’s 3×3 team in its sports structure, which has a LEB Or senior, an EBA senior, twenty base teams, a men’s 3×3 team and a wheelchair team. The new team from Girona will be represented by four of the best players in the FIBA 3×3 ranking: Sandra Ygueravide (1), Aitana Cuevas (4), Vega Gimeno (6) and Marta Canella (9).

The club once again shows its support for this emerging discipline that it wants to continue to grow. The incorporation of the CEB increased female representation in the sports area and the entry of this team is another step. In addition, its continental competitive reach allows Girona to cross borders and the name of the club and the demarcation sound everywhere.

Last summer, the four competed with the Spanish 3×3 team and won the European in Paris, two Women Series, the top club competition, in Mies and Montreal), a continental runner-up in Voiron and participated in the pre-Olympic 2020 Tokyo Games. Just like the men’s team, the women’s team will compete in national, state and international tournaments this summer. The arrival of the women’s team strengthens the club’s link with this discipline and the relationship with its virtues of emerging sport, modernity, equality, entertainment and youth, ensuring competitive basketball all year round.

Three of the four players combine the 3×3 modality with the 5×5 modality: Sandra Ygueravide (ESBVA-Lille Metropole – French Women’s League ) , Vega Gimeno (Casademont Zaragoza – Endesa Women’s League) and Marta Canella (Barça CBS – Challenge Women’s League). Aitana Cuevas retired this past summer after a long career in Women’s League 2 (15 seasons) with a chapter in Endesa Women’s League.
