The team will face Cáceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad aware that a victory opens the door to the play-off

Básquet Girona will play this Sunday, May 16 (12:30 p.m.) the last match of the second phase at the Ciudad de Cáceres multi-purpose pavilion. The team depends on itself to get a place in the promotion play-off.

In the first leg of the second phase, Cáceres managed to take the victory in Fontajau by a point of difference in a tight final (74-75). The Extremadura team and the Catalan team share a record: nine wins and six defeats. “Cáceres arrives as the only team in the group that has not lost at home. Therefore, it is a figure that shows the consistency they have had against the eight teams that have played in this second phase. In the absence of ours, he has won seven of seven.”

Cáceres is in second place in the table, taking into account that the first place, Levitec Huesca, has played one more game. If Basketball Girona wins, it will go directly to the play-off, unlike Cáceres, which does not depend on itself despite the victory. The Extremadura team has a very wide squad, where Devin Schimdt, who is the top scorer, and Roeland Schaftenaar, the team’s most highly rated player, stand out. In the rebounding section we find Francisco del Águila, and Ferran Ventura stands out as the best passer.

Statements by Carlos Marco:

“As we all face it, looking forward to tomorrow’s arrival. I think we’ve had a good week of training again; we have not lost either the demand or the attention and we have been fine. We are really looking forward to competing tomorrow and beating a team that is the only team we haven’t beaten yet in this second phase. We know that it is a very good team, that plays in a good stadium and with a lot of fans. What we want is to keep training and keep competing and to do that there is only one thing left: to play a good game tomorrow and try to win.”
