Meet the senior players (V): Milan Suskavcevic

Milan Suskavcevic (Cetinje, Montenegro, 1997) started playing basketball in KK Podgorica, but in the summer of 2014 he was signed by Fuenlabrada when he was still a junior. In the last two seasons, he has played with his subsidiary (one in LEB Plata and the other in EBA). Last summer, he participated with his selection in the European Under-20 Championship in Crete. -From Fuenlabrada to Girona. Has knowing the country made your adaptation easier?

“Three years ago, when I arrived in Fuenlabrada, everything was very complicated. I had barely left my country and getting used to living far from home is not easy at all. The main problem was communication because I did not speak the Spanish. Now this problem no longer exists and this makes things much easier. Adaptation is one of them.” 

-The team plays with a lot of rhythm. How do you feel about it?

“It’s never easy for a big player of my stature [2.09m] to adapt to this style of play. But I like to see it from a positive point of view. Thinking that this will help me improve and expand a facet of my game that few players of my height are able to apply.”

-You are third parties of the EBA League CA group. What do you expect from the last days?

“Simply going to every game hungry and wanting to go all out. And, above all, let’s all enjoy basketball.”

A place in Girona to get lost in: Through the center and the walls.

A current basketball player you identify with: Bojan Dubljevic because he is Montenegrin, like me. But for the style of play, Jusuf Nurkic.

The last book you read: “Y las montañas hablaron”, by  Khaled Hosseini.

One  Hobby : Cinema, reading books and talking to my family because I don’t see them much.

A life motto: A ship in the harbor is calm, but ships are not made for that.

A sport, aside from basketball: Football. When I was little, I played goalie. I also like handball because my mother used to play it.

The greatest basketball player in history: Kobe Bryant.

A dream to fulfill: To be a professional basketball player and reach my highest level.

One team: Red Star. 

A movie: “Kong: Skull Island”.
