Moncho Fernández was presented this afternoon as the new coach of Bàsquet Girona. The coach from Santiago de Compostela, who arrives in the city with the aim of reversing the team’s results, appeared before the media and fans with a speech that reflected his enthusiasm and commitment to the project.

Moncho Fernández, who has stood out in his career for his ability to build competitive teams with a strong identity, began his speech with a clear and forceful message. “I am convinced that together we will achieve this,” he firmly stated, referring to the collective challenge he faces with Bàsquet Girona. The Galician, who has been following the club’s history for some time, highlighted that his main objective is to work on building a long-term project, but that this can only be achieved with the effort of all members of the organization.

The coach added that, for him, the most important thing is to “get as involved as possible” in the culture, land and city of Girona. “I want to be part of this community and contribute as much as possible to the growth of the club, both on and off the pitch”, said Moncho, who also promised to improve his Catalan to be able to communicate better with the fans and the club’s environment. This gesture, which demonstrates his commitment to integration in the city, was very well appreciated by everyone present.

Moncho Fernández concluded his presentation by talking about the first immediate challenge, which is the first training session of the following day. “The first objective is to do the best possible tomorrow, in the first training session,” he said. With this metaphor that compares a project to a marathon, he stressed the importance of starting with strength and determination. “A marathon begins with the first step,” he added with a smile, transmitting a feeling of confidence and optimism.
