Official statement: FIATC Girona resumes the trip to Vitoria this morning and the match will finally be played at 7pm

The team spent the night in Zaragoza after the incidents on the trip and will complete the journey to Vitoria this morning.

FIATC Girona will resume their road trip from Zaragoza to Vitoria this morning, where they will play their match corresponding to matchday 2 of the Endesa League this Sunday.

After the flight was cancelled due to the storm and the incidents resulting from this situation, the Girona expedition arrived in Zaragoza this morning, where they spent the night, and will continue their journey by road to Vitoria this morning.

In order to facilitate the team’s travel and guarantee their rest and preparation, the club has worked with the parties involved on different time options and has requested to delay the start of the match, initially scheduled for 6 p.m., until 8 p.m. Finally, it has been agreed to play the match at 7 p.m.

FIATC Girona appreciates the willingness to adapt the schedule given the exceptional circumstances of the trip. However, taking into account that the expedition arrived in Zaragoza early in the morning, that it will have to complete the journey to Vitoria that same morning and that it will not be able to carry out the usual morning training, the club considers that having the requested schedule, at 8 p.m., would have allowed for a more adequate margin for the team’s rest and preparation.

Despite these circumstances, the club has always prioritized being able to play the match and has made all the necessary efforts to avoid its postponement and contribute to the normal development of the competition. The Club would also like to thank the collaboration of Casademont Zaragoza, which helped find a hotel to stay overnight.
