The final escapes

A bad start conditions the senior, who bows out against Torrons Vicens CB L'Hospitalet (73-56), new champion of the Catalan League LEB Plata

The first senior final of Girona Basketball did not result in a title. The team led by Quim Costa was unable to overcome Torrons Vicens CB L’Hospitalet in the final of the LEB Plata Catalan League (73-56), played this afternoon in Santa Coloma de Farners, amidst a great atmosphere in Els Saioners Always in tow, the Girona players have only exhibited their game in some phase of the third quarter.  

The staging of one and the other has marked the final outcome. The Barcelona players came out with much more intensity and determination and quickly acquired advantages of more than ten points. Básquet Girona did not locate the game in the open field and, without rhythm, struggled to score (10/28 field goals in the first two quarters). At halftime, -16 on the scoreboard (44-28), with Gelazonia (13 points) dominating under the boards, drawing juice from the opponent’s interior problems. Berry, with discomfort, played only three minutes. After the restart, the team found themselves and gave the impression that they could still have their say in the final. So much so that at the end of the third quarter the difference had narrowed significantly (54-47). But a 10-0 run at the start of the last (64-47, 34′) ended everything.
