The senior loses his unbeaten streak

First defeat of the Girona Básquet senior in the EBA League. The team led by Quim Costa lost this afternoon at Mataró Parc Boet (83-79) and is now 2-1 in Group CA. It was a match with alternatives and with a very tight end, in which the locals were able to draw on their experience to take the victory. Milan Suskavcevic has made his debut after missing the first two rounds due to a sprained ankle.

The team from Girona put on a good show, but were never able to distance themselves on the scoreboard. Little by little, the opponent was able to impose the game that suited him best, with little rhythm, and he was finding himself more comfortable in the match. At halftime, it was already in the lead 42-40. The inspiration of Canals from the triple and the incomes in blocking and continuation situations have propelled the Maresme and they have opened a hole that has reached 11 points (75-64, 35′). It has not been decisive because Basketball Girona, in addition to raising the level of intensity in defense, has been able to cut distances and, already in the final section and playing with four small players, has put the breath on the back of their necks (79- 78 and 11 seconds to go). El Mataró Parc Boet, however, was successful from the free kick and did not allow himself to be surprised.  

On the next day, Básquet Girona will host Club Básquet Menorca, on Sunday 15 October at noon (1 p.m.).
