The senior team of Basketball Girona will play the last match of the season at home on Saturday in the CA group of EBA. They will face Ibersol CB Tarragona (7 p.m.), already without the possibility of accessing the promotion phase to LEB Plata, but with the intention of rounding off the excellent background as a local this year. He is 11-1, with an eight-game winning streak still open. The match will serve as the culmination of an afternoon of basketball in Fontajau since, previously (4.15 p.m.), the U18 will have played in a match of Group 2 of Interterritorial juniors, against BC Fontajau In2in A.

The team coached by Quim Costa is also defending third place (16-8), now threatened by Arenys Básquet Joventut and Aracena AEC Collblanc, who are only one win away. Heavily punished by injuries in the first half of the season, the Tarragona players arrive in Girona on the rise, having added up a 7-2 record in the last nine games that has consolidated them in the middle zone (13-11). Berni Álvarez, in charge since 2010, leads a team in which Daniel Tugores is the top scorer, with 10.6 points. American Michael Balkovic, however, has just played an extraordinary game last weekend against CB Cantaires, with 29 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks.

As always this season, the games in Fontajau are free.
