The Girona Basketball senior continues to confirm his good start to the season. This afternoon, they beat Club Básquet Menorca (75-69) and have a 3-1 record in the first four days of the EBA League CA group. The team led by Quim Costa worked hard to win against an opponent with players with a lot of experience in LEB competitions, such as Jorge Jiménez and Andreu Matalí.

The equality of the first minutes was broken by the Balearics who, at the end of the first quarter, distanced themselves by taking advantage of mishaps and local mistakes (11-21, 9′). Little by little, Básquet Girona has been raising the defensive tone and this, combined with the success from the perimeter, have allowed them to advance on the scoreboard in the middle of the second period (28-26). Nevertheless, the visitors, well led by Jiménez – he made his debut today -, stopped the blow and reached the half-time ahead (30-31).   On the way back from the locker room, Quim Costa’s men found more offensive fluency, which allowed them to open a difference of +12 (48-36, 27′). Club Bàsquet Menorca returned to the game by taking advantage of the local inaccuracies and, although everything seemed to be almost decided at the end (67-59, 37′), the errors in Girona’s free throws in the last minutes generated more anxiety of the account

Before the match, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Ramon Sitjà. The senior’s next engagement is on Sunday, October 22 at the CB Cantaires de Tortosa track (7 p.m.).
