The match started with a high tempo and exchange of baskets. The good start of Mac McClung and the impact of Jassel Pérez in his debut gave the Girona team an initial boost against Lleida’s success from the outside (29-28). In the second period, the defenses took the lead and the game became more complicated. Despite the rival’s reaction to adjust the score (41-39), the work behind the scenes and a final run of 7-2 allowed FIATC Girona to go to the locker room with an advantage (48-41).
In the second half, Moncho Fernández’s team came out on top offensively, led by two consecutive 2+1s from N’Guessan and a flurry of three-pointers that increased the lead to 18 points. Although Lleida managed to close the gap before the final quarter (82-75), Girona remained cool in the final period. A good defensive moment, combined with Jassel Pérez’s great debut (17 points in 13 minutes) and Mac McClung’s determination in the final stretch, ended up securing the victory by 103 to 95.
