Spar Girona | Sunday, 07 December 2025

Spar Girona have added their ninth victory of the season in Fontajau against a combative IDK Euskotren, in a match that the Girona team have controlled from the start and in which the offensive success has set the pace (71-60). The afternoon has also seen the return of Bibby, much celebrated by Fontajau, in a match that keeps the team at the top of the standings.

A solvent IDK started the match with ambition, combining 9 points between Robinson and Buch. However, the success of Canella and Coulibaly has advanced the Girona team, placing them with a +3 (12-9). Fontajau has gone crazy with the return of Bibby and, right after, has exploded with his triple (17-9). The connection between Carter and Pendande has borne fruit and has allowed to impose the +10 on the scoreboard (21-11).

The good end of the quarter was maintained in the second, thanks to Lola’s verticality near the basket (8 points, 30-13). With the change of pivot, it was Mariam who took control in the zone, also contributing Canella and Jocyte to open up differences in the score (41-18). With Muguruza’s timeout, Faye scored under the basket and Íñiguez replicated the save; Bibby and Coulibaly converted the last actions (46-24). At the buzzer, Bibby scored a three-pointer, but the referees annulled it for being out of time.

After the change of dressing room, IDK found a way with their interior, highlighting Faye and Ejim (50-32). Despite the points from Jocyte and Mariam, a more electric Ibaeta found holes in the Girona defense, with outstanding contributions from Ceta and Robinson (53-37). Girona reversed the situation by scoring from the personnel, and Canella’s final basket made it 60-41.

Despite the difference in the score, the 4-9 period led Íñiguez to call a timeout to lead the last six minutes (64-50), and Jocyte did not forgive in the following action. Robinson answered from long distance, but Carol replicated the action (69-53). Then, the match stalled in attack, breaking the bad streak Buch from the personal line (69-55). Rosó herself scored a three-pointer and a layup to put the Basques within four points (69-60). After Roberto’s timeout, Ibaeta stopped the last Girona attempts with personal fouls, blocking the attack. Buch’s reply did not go in and Canella responded with a layup to make it 71-60.
