Defeat in overtime on the Perfumerías Avenida court

The duel was decided in extra time after the score was tied at 72 at the end of regulation time.

Spar Girona lost at the Perfumerías Avenida court by 83 to 79 in a very even duel that went into overtime after being tied at 72 at the end of regulation time. In a game of constant substitutions and with short differences for many periods, the home team’s success in the decisive moments of extra time ended up deciding the result.

With Iyana Martin leading the local attack, Bibby’s actions and Mariam and Klara’s points put Girona ahead (7-9). Quevedo and Mariam’s actions under the basket increased the score, but Cave and Zellous’ work tied the game at 13. With errors in attack, Vilaró’s basket put Perfumerías ahead, but the intense pressure from Spar led to them regaining the ball and then scoring Carol’s triple (15-17). With the offensive rebound, again from Bibby, the Girona team scored the first points in overtime (75-74) and, then, the free throws from Juste put our team ahead (75-76). Iyana, again, took the offensive weight of her team, converting two very classy baskets (79-76), stopping Íñiguez in the game with 45 seconds left. Carter was unable to convert the entry and Iyana, from the personal line, increased the advantage. That said, our offensive transition ended with a three-pointer from Jocyte and a timeout from Montañana with 9 seconds left (81-79). The foul with 6 seconds left brought Iyana back to the line, which he punished again, winning Perfumerías Avenida 83 to 79.
