Spar Girona wins with authority on the last day of the league
With this victory, the team is in the best position to advance to the playoffs.

Spar Girona closed the regular phase of the LF Endesa with a victory at the IDK Euskotren court (58-84). Roberto Íñiguez’s team dominated the scoreboard from the first minutes thanks to their team play and their accuracy from long distance, gradually increasing their lead until the final stretch.
Maximum equality in the initial part of the match where, despite Bibby’s triple and Axelle’s five consecutive points, Íñiguez stopped the clash with Rosó’s entry (11-8). The reaction was not long in coming, first with the inside dominance of Mariam and Mecerón and, later, with the success of the triple by Bibby, Coulibaly and Carol. A final entry by Ainhoa closed the first quarter with a ten-point advantage for the Girona team (15-25).
Spar’s upward momentum continued at the start of the second quarter, and with points from Mariam, Ainhoa, Jocyte and Klara they extended their lead (15-34). Although IDK found success from the free throw line and from under the basket, the team play, the offensive transitions and the success of three of the Girona players significantly increased the score (20-43). That said, the final losses gave the Basques a small sigh of relief, placing the score at 26 to 43 at halftime.
Juste and Chloe’s three-pointers put the score back at +20 (29-49), but Ibaeta’s free-throw opportunities and Lara’s three-pointer forced Íñiguez to stop the clock (37-51). The response was strong: Ainhoa and Axelle’s transition attacks, combined with Chloe’s successful three-pointer, extended the lead to 40-64 at the end of the third quarter.
Rosó started the quarter from long range, but Carol’s reply was not long in coming (43-67). With a lot of exchanges for both teams, the vertical transitions made it 49 to 74 at the end of the last quarter. The actions of Mariam and Juste made it the maximum of the match (49-78), finally winning by Spar Girona by 58 to 84.
