A path of giants

Spar Girona’s European season has been a demonstration of character and solvency from the very beginning. In this start, Roberto Íñiguez’s team shook the continent by beating USK Prague -the reigning champion- in two games, a declaration of intent that led them to finish as group leaders.

In the second round, the team maintained its competitive spirit in a demanding group, finishing with a record of 8 wins and 4 losses . This consistency earned it the deserved prize: direct access to the Final Six in Zaragoza. However, before that, they played the Play-In against Fenerbahçe, losing the tie and sending us to the quarter-finals of the Final Six.

Competing head-to-head in the Final Six

In the decisive phase, Spar was not satisfied with just being there and scored a prestigious victory against Umana Reyer Venezia (70-64), where the Girona team knew how to suffer and dominate to get fully into the fight for the medals.

In the semifinals, the team played an epic duel against the almighty Fenerbahçe, taking on the best team in the world, dominating the first quarter and leaving with their heads held high despite the final result.

Finally, in the fight for bronze in a hostile Príncipe Felipe, Spar Girona had Casademont Zaragoza on the ropes until the last second, with three triple-point opportunities to force overtime that they did not want to enter.

The new roof of Europe

With this fourth final position, Spar Girona achieves its best historical record in the EuroLeague Women. The delivery of the squad and the management of Roberto Íñiguez have allowed the club to make a qualitative leap and compete at the highest level on the continent throughout the season.
