FIATC and Bàsquet Girona take a historic step in their alliance: the first men's team starts competing under the name FIATC Girona

FIATC becomes the naming partner of the first men's team of Bàsquet Girona, culminating a relationship that began in 2018 that has gone far beyond sports sponsorship and has embraced social and health initiatives.

Girona Basketball is entering a new phase with FIATC, its main sponsor, who will also become the club’s naming partner . Starting this 2025-2026 season, the men’s first team will officially compete under the name FIATC Girona, after both parties have agreed to strengthen an alliance that has united them for eight seasons and continues to consolidate a relationship that has grown at the same pace as the sports project. The agreement is valid for three seasons and may be extended for a fourth.

The announcement was made this Friday at an event held at the Fontajau pavilion, with the participation of the president of Bàsquet Girona, Marc Gasol, and the general director of FIATC, Joan Manuel Castells, in front of members of the board, players and technical team of the club; representatives of FIATC and other sponsors and guests. During the presentation, led by journalist Clara Vicenç, the club and the insurer defined this agreement as a natural step in their relationship, given that every time Bàsquet Girona has taken a step forward, FIATC has been by their side.

The relationship between the two parties dates back to 2018, when the insurer committed to the project in its early years. Since then, it has accompanied the club in its main milestones, from promotions to consolidation in the Endesa League (ACB), becoming the main sponsor in 2022. The new naming represents the evolution of this shared path and reinforces an alliance based on commitment, proximity and a shared desire to continue promoting the project in the long term on and off the pitch.

“It is a historic moment for us. From the first day we presented the challenge and the project to FIATC, they have shown this commitment to us. They understand perfectly the impact that a club can have as a brand and as a social tool. We are very grateful to all the people at FIATC who have made this agreement possible and who trust us and from now on with a great responsibility to face the challenges that come our way and to maintain this pride that FIATC has always had with us”, highlighted Marc Gasol, president and promoter of the club.

In the same vein, the general director of FIATC, Joan Manuel Castells, has spoken: “The most solid projects are those that are built with time, trust and perseverance. This has been the relationship between FIATC and Bàsquet Girona for these seven years. Today our name becomes part of the first team because this is also a project that we feel is ours due to the values ​​we share with the club. We will continue to be by its side with the same enthusiasm and the same commitment with which we decided to accompany it from its beginnings.”

Three seasons of FIATC Girona

The new agreement will have an initial term of three seasons, with the option of a fourth, and will strengthen the collaboration between both entities both in the men’s first team and in new projects linked to the development of the club.

With this new step, FIATC and Bàsquet Girona reaffirm their desire to continue writing together a story that began in 2018 and which is now facing one of the most relevant chapters of its journey.
