SPAR Girona will face a new round of the EuroCup Women this Thursday, October 29, at 6:30 p.m., with a visit to the court of Rutronik Stars Keltern. Both teams arrive at the third round with a balance of one win and one loss and will look to add a victory to continue advancing in the European competition.
The Rutronik Stars Keltern has several outstanding players at the start of the season. Center Alex Kiss-Rusk is one of the main offensive references of the German team, with averages of 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and a 17.5 rating per game. Also standing out is guard Karina Konstantinova, who records 13 points, 3 assists and a 14.5 rating per game, while Alexandra Wilke contributes 10.5 points per game.
The German team comes into the match after losing their last European match against Ostrava 80 to 84. For their part, SPAR Girona will also look to recover after their defeat on the last day against Montaha 82 to 73. Both teams share the same balance in the group, which makes this matchup important in the fight to continue adding victories in the EuroCup Women.
The Girona team faces the trip to Germany conditioned by numerous casualties and a short rotation. Coach Roberto Íñiguez has acknowledged the wear and tear accumulated in this stretch of the season, but has highlighted the good feelings from the last training session: “I have seen a team that has finally internalized the mistakes. We will move forward when we recover the people.”
Ahead of the match against Keltern, Onyiah will join the SPAR Girona roster in place of Bulgak. The Girona team will seek to compete at the highest level despite the difficulties and return from Germany with a European victory.
