A bad third quarter dooms them

First away defeat for the senior, who accumulates 4-3 in the East group of LEB Plata after losing on the court of  JAFEP Fundación Globalcaja La Roda (76-58)

The Girona Básquet senior could not extend his winning streak away from Fontajau. Yesterday, the JAFEP Fundación Globalcaja La Roda prevented that, overcoming it in a match that the Manchas had under control from the beginning. The team led by Quim Costa finished with 39% in field goals and this mistake was a burden that dragged on. The defeat leaves him with 4-3, in a high zone of the East group of LEB Plata of extreme equality.  

The staging was not good, with little offensive fluidity (13-3, 7′), and the Girona players were forced to row against the current from very early on. Without Nil Angelats – down due to injury -, Sergi Costa’s baton assured the team and allowed them to find one more point of continuity, a key aspect to reach the half with the outcome open (29-25). The base player from Badalón had limited playing time due to an injury that occurred during training during the week. Initially, Berry’s points supported Básquet Girona during the third quarter, but the team began to give ground, sewn up by Nzege and above all, González’s wrist. The difference shot up to 49-31 (27′) and, despite not giving up, it never felt like the visitors could question La Roda’s victory.  

The senior’s next engagement is this Wednesday, November 14 in Fontajau (8 p.m.). Their opponent will be Isover Basket Azuqueca.
