Bàsquet Girona demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and environmental care by participating in a cleaning and awareness day that has been organized jointly with the City Council of Castell d’Aro, Platja d’Aro and S’Agaró in the area of Cavall Bernat, one of the most emblematic places on the Costa Brava with the desire to learn from professionals who already carry out cleaning processes.

The participants of Bàsquet Girona have joined the municipal brigade in a day of support and awareness of the care of the Girona coastline. This collection is part of the Bàsquet Girona’s regular collaborations with local and international initiatives dedicated to environmental protection.

The Club entourage was made up of players from the base teams and Club workers accompanied by the players Guillem Ferrando and Aljahmi Durham; Jesús Escosa, General Manager , accompanied by an entourage from Platja d’Aro City Council.

“The Club believes that it is part of our responsibility as an Entity to organize regular conferences like today to raise awareness among young people of the importance of the sustainability of the planet, which is the task of the new and old generations, ” said Jesús Escosa , General Manager of Bàsquet Girona .

Two key points of why this joint initiative,

  1. Committed to quality standards, the Aro Beach Council, in its ‘Beaches’ program, is governed by internationally validated and independently assessed standards.
  2. We understand environmental management as an integral action. On the part of the municipality, coastal management is presented as an action that covers everything from lifeguarding to cleaning and maintenance, including aspects such as accessibility and information and citizen participation, and the Girona Club aims to generate actions that not only have an impact on the sporting field, but also on the well-being of people and the planet.

“We firmly believe that sport can change the world. Beyond competition, it is a powerful tool to transform our society and our planet. Just as we have done from the Club with the creation of “BG – BE GREAT , a label that was created with the aim of grouping and giving visibility to all the social and environmental sustainability initiatives promoted by the Bàsquet Girona environment, ” said Clàudia Batlle , head of the CSR area at Bàsquet Girona. “With this joint action, we have done our bit to care for the environment and promote greater awareness of the importance of preserving our natural spaces.

During this day of support and awareness-raising, which is part of the World Day Against Climate Change , Bàsquet Girona reaffirms its commitment to the environment and invites everyone to participate in this important cause.

About BG – BE GREAT .- the project that was born from Bàsquet Girona, not only as a brand; it is a movement that promotes social and environmental transformation through sport. With the slogan “Be Great”, we address young people with the aim of raising awareness and empowering them to make a difference. Sport is the tool, but our mission goes further: we want to make the world a better place.
