In the wake of the events that occurred during the Final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on August 20 and which were led by the top leader of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, Basketball Girona wants to express, firmly, that it condemns all gender violence in the field of sport, be it verbal, physical or of any nature.

However, it confidently reiterates their position in favor of equal rights and the dignity of women, in general in society and, of course, also in the field of sport, and against any expression or activity that goes against the values ​​of sport and respect.

The club wants to make explicit, with this statement, its responsibility towards women’s sport in order to defend the interests of the base players and the women’s 3×3 team of Básquet Girona, as well as contribute to guaranteeing a free future of gender violence throughout society.
