Bàsquet Girona beat Valencia Basket in one of the best FontaShows of the season (92-88). The protagonists of the game were Juani Marcos and Ike Ireogbu, who scored half of the team’s points. The match began frantically, with many comings and goings on the scoreboard, in which the Girona team ended up winning with the scoring contributions of Quino Colom from outside -8 points and 2 triples- and Khem Birch in the two hoops ( 23-20). In the second period, even though it was Valencian, the energetic script of the match was maintained and Girona gave an outdoor recital with five triples from six attempts and an excellent Iroegbu, author of 12 points and 17 ratings in the partial (48-49).

In the rematch, the team led by Fotis Katsikaris delivered a blow of authority with an 18-3 run that catapulted them into the game and into the scoreboard (66-52) but the Valencian comeback was not made to wait with a partial 1-14 that has resituated him in the match (69-65). The back and forth again set the tone in the last ten minutes, in which a huge Juani Marcos took off, author of fifteen points in the second half. The most decisive partials were marked by the team from Girona, with a first margin of eight points (82-74), which Valencia managed to counter. But two Girona triples in the final minutes, the work of Iroegbu (89-82) and especially Juani Marcos (92-86), sealed the tenth victory for Girona.

Fotis Katsikaris “We showed character in complicated moments, we played with a lot of faith, very well in attack, good decisions and few losses. We insisted until the last seconds to take this victory.”

Ike Iroegbu “I’m proud that I was able to make important shots at the end of the game, and do what I can to help the team win.”
