Girona Basketball, through its Performance Area, is launching MoviBask, a motor warm-up program that will be progressively integrated into the club’s training sessions with the aim of promoting the development of basic motor skills in young athletes.

The project was presented in a theoretical-practical training session attended by the coaches of the small basket teams of Bàsquet Girona, who will be the first to incorporate MoviBask’s proposals into their training sessions. The training was led by Anna Jòdar, physical trainer of the Bàsquet Girona Performance Area, and allowed the coaches to learn the basics of the project and experiment with different practical proposals.

MoviBask was born with the desire to give a new meaning to the warm-up, understanding it not only as a preparation of the body before sporting activity, but also as an opportunity for learning and development.

The activities that are part of the program are aimed at working on different basic motor skills, such as movement, jumping, turning, balancing, coordination, changes of direction or the control and manipulation of objects.

One of the main objectives of MoviBask is to build a solid motor base during the early stages of training that will later facilitate the learning of more complex and specific basketball skills.

In this sense, the small basket represents a particularly important stage, since it is during these years that players develop a good part of their motor skills and acquire tools that will help them progress in their sports career.

The session combined theoretical content with a practical part, with the aim of providing coaches with simple, varied and applicable resources for the day-to-day training.

With MoviBask, the Girona Basketball Performance Area continues to commit to comprehensive training for young athletes and to offering tools to technical teams that contribute to their development, using movement and play as fundamental elements of the learning process.
